Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors.

Warrior News: The linky-list sign up now closes at Noon on Sundays. If you realize Sunday morning when you start to make your rounds, that you forgot to get your name on the list, you can still add it.

If you'd like to participate or read tempting morsels from other authors, please sign up--or check the linky list at: http://wewriwa.blogspot.com/

Also, check out the Snippet Sunday group on facebook.

This snippet is from Emmily, Unbound, an SFR story about Emmily, a 40-something woman, and Gen Rael, an alien who crash-landed on Earth and took her hostage until his rescue arrives. Their fiery beginnings together have taken a turn. They're on the back porch together. They've just discussed Jason, Emmily's ex-husband. Rael said that Jason was "a fool." He slipped his jacket over her shoulders when she shivered, and then put his arm around her.

Last week ended with this:   He inclines his head but his gaze into my eyes remains steady. “Emmily Wagner, ask me your question. I will either answer with truth and honor or choose to not answer at all.”

“Do you have a mate at home?”

The Snippet:

He looks away, toward the darkened sky. Precious and dangerous seconds tick by.

Oh, God, he doesn’t know how to break it to me. He suspects I’ve begun to… that there’s affection…  That I have some kind of silly, human-girl crush on him. I feel like someone is squeezing my heart.

     “No. No mate. Anywhere.”

A little more if you're interested.

I exhale. My inner-fool will not be silenced.  I ask, “Why not?”

Next week, his reply.  I might be late getting around to visit this week. It's our anniversary and hubs said he'd take me for a drive--wherever I want to go. Adventure awaits! :-) That's it for this week. Thanks for visiting! Have a wonderful week. :-)

  1. Great answer from him...and quite the probing question from her. Can't wait for the answer!

    1. Shameless idiots can be so much fun to write. ;-) Thanks, Jenna!

  2. It's definitely good to have those answers. Great snippet.

  3. Okay, so one question answered. Now, for the next one. You love to leave us in suspense! ;)

  4. Happy Anniversary! A very satisfying romance-y snippet today...

  5. These two are definitely approaching intimacy, at least verbally.

    1. Approaching... Hardship ahead... Thanks, Ed! :-)

  6. Happy Anniversary! I'd love to hear his answer.
