Weekend Writing Warriors May 22, 2016

Hello all my fellow Warriors (and Snippeteers)! :-)

Weekend Writing Warriors is a weekly bloghop.  Each week, participants sign up HERE at wewriwa.com, then post 8 to 10 sentences of their work, published or unpublished, on their own blog to go live before 9:00 AM Sunday EST. (We check signups and remove links when we don't find a wewriwa post-- to save our participants from clicking on empty links--so please have it live by 9:00 Sunday morning--eastern USA) Then we visit each other and read, comment, critique, encourage--all those things that do a solitary writer's heart good.
Snippet Sunday group from facebook--not us, but many of our participants do both, can be found HERE

Setup:  Earth has been invaded by aliens, galactic slavers. Our MC, Lily, and her dog, Jobe, were captured.     It's morning, and Lily is about to realize that an alien ship is coming toward them at the playground where they've spent the night.  .

"The morning air was still as death, and smelled of death, too. One of the aliens smirked while he sat on a swing that had a seat much too small for him. The chains made a tired, rusty creak as he swung. Lily wished she had a two-by-four. She’d use it to wipe that creepy grin right off his face.
As if choreographed to perfection, all of their faces lifted to look skyward. Then Lily heard it, the sound of approaching aircraft. Please dear God, she prayed silently, let it be friendly--a rescue maybe? After getting a closer look, terror gripped her. The descending ship had the insignia she'd seen on the news--back before Pittsburgh's TV stations had all been destroyed in a flash of corkscrewing blue light.

That's it. Lily and Jobe are about to leave Earth--much against their will.  Thanks for visiting and giving this a read. I am truly grateful for feedback. :-)

Hello all my fellow Warriors (and Snippeteers)! :-)

Setup:  Earth has been invaded by aliens, galactic slavers. Our MC, Lily, and her dog, Jobe, were captured.
Lily is on the ground with her wrists and ankles secured. It is dawn, and the alien commander and Lily are verbally sparring.  Last week's snippet ended with
the alien "Dev Areen" tormenting her, trying to make her beg for her dog's life, and informing her that she will be his entertainment.  It ended with this sentence spoken by the alien: Surely you are not so foolish to think life is any different on my side of the stars?”  We continue from there with Lily talking:

Rage shook Lilly. Her words flew without hesitation. “I will never, ever, ever  willingly satisfy any need you have.”

The sickening smirk returned to his ashen mouth. Only dead things were such a lifeless shade of gray. When he answered, his tone left no doubt his words were anything but an idle threat. “I am Dev Areen. What I command, you will do, unwillingly if you must,” He leaned close to her. His smile was gone when he added in a chilling voice, "And no, I will not spare your dog’s life.”

That's it. It gets worse and worse...  And for anyone worried that this alien might be Lily's romantic interest (yuck) not the case. There is another alien in her future... Thanks for visiting and giving this a read. I am truly grateful for feedback. :-)

Weekend Writing Warrior May 8, 2016

Hello all my fellow Warriors (and Snippeteers)! :-) Happy Mother's Day--whether your babies have two legs or four. :-)

Weekend Writing Warriors is a weekly bloghop.  Each week, participants sign up HERE at wewriwa.com, then post 8 to 10 sentences of their work, published or unpublished, on their own blog to go live before 9:00 AM Sunday EST. (We check sign ups and remove links when we don't find a wewriwa post-- to save our participants from clicking on empty links--so please have it live by 9:00 Sunday morning--eastern USA) Then we visit each other and read, comment, critique, encourage--all those things that do a solitary writer's heart good.

Setup:  Earth has been invaded by aliens. Our MC, Lily, and her dog, Jobe, were captured.
Lily is on the ground with her wrists and ankles secured. It is dawn, and the alien commander and Lily just locked eyes. Last week's snippet ended with Lily and the alien commander going back and forth about why he's taking her and her dog along with them as captives. Now Lily knows that the aliens are galactic slavers.  It ended with this sentence spoken by the alien: "
“And  you will be good entertainment for me.”  We continue from there with Lily talking:

“Entertainment? What kind of entertainment?”
His smile returned but his voice was matter-of-fact. “The fighting cell; you would lose, but your combat would be worth watching. Or if you prefer, you could satisfy my male needs. There is no shame in a Bulrager so far from home, settling for a human female. Your kind is equipped with a workable anatomy, and satisfaction is satisfaction, even with someone as ugly as you." His smile fled. "Your face shows doubt.  Surely you are not so foolish to think life is different on my side of the stars?”

That's it. Having entertainment value is worse than having no value...  She'd better get her best game on. She'll need it. And for anyone worried that this alien might be Lily's romantic interest (yuck) not the case. There is another alien in her future... Thanks for visiting and giving this a read. I am truly grateful for feedback. :-)
