Hello
all my fellow Warriors (and Snippeteers)! :-)
Weekend Writing
Warriors is a weekly bloghop. Each week, participants sign up HERE at wewriwa.com, then post 8 to 10 sentences of
their work, published or unpublished, on their own blog to go live before 9:00 AM Sunday EST. (We check sign ups and remove links when we don't find a wewriwa post-- to save our participants from clicking on empty links--so please have it live by 9:00 Sunday morning--eastern USA) Then we visit each other and read, comment,
critique, encourage--all those things that do a solitary writer's heart
good.
Snippet Sunday group from facebook--not us, but many of our participants do both, can be found HERE

Lily is on the ground with her wrists and ankles secured. It is dawn, and the alien commander and Lily are verbally sparring. Last week's snippet ended with the alien "Dev Areen" tormenting her, trying to make her beg for her dog's life, and informing her that she will be his entertainment. It ended with this sentence spoken by the alien: “ Surely you are not so foolish to think life is any different on my side of the stars?” We continue from there with Lily talking:
Rage shook Lilly. Her words flew without
hesitation. “I will never, ever, ever willingly satisfy any need you have.”
The sickening smirk returned to his ashen mouth. Only dead things were such a lifeless shade of gray. When he answered, his tone left no doubt his words were anything but an idle threat. “I am Dev
Areen. What I command, you will do, unwillingly if you must,” He leaned close to her. His smile was gone when he added in a chilling voice, "And no, I
will not spare your dog’s life.”
Oh, he had to threaten the dog! Nice touch, Teresa.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he did, Ian :-) Thanks!
DeleteOh no, the poor puppy! Glad that you cleared that up about the love interest, I was getting worried.
ReplyDeleteJobe is going through a rough time. Oy, who could like a character than hurts dogs? lol Thanks, CHelle.
DeleteSuch a delightfully despicable villain, Teresa!
ReplyDeleteI hope Lilly's vengeance is sweet!
I think it will be sweet, indeed. :-)Thanks, Kim!
DeleteI'm glad you explained that he isn't the romantic interest. I was wondering how you'd go about rehabilitating this jerk.
ReplyDeleteBoy, that would be a challenge--redeeming such a horrible character, huh? Thanks, Ed. :-)
DeleteYikes! I'm glad he is not her love interest. Not after a comment like that. I hope that other alien comes to her rescue soon. As always, I love reading your snippets, and I look forward to the day I can read this story in it's entirety. :)
ReplyDeleteThere are many things a character can do and still be redeemed. Killing her dog is not one of them! Love the tension.
ReplyDeleteA) This bastard needs to go.
ReplyDeleteB) Chilling scene, Teresa, absolutely chilling!
C) This line is boss: "Only dead things were such a lifeless shade of gray."
Awesome work!
Ack! He really is beyond creepy! I'm hoping Jobe will come up from behind and bite him hard!!
ReplyDeleteThis guy (creature?) is truly icky! I hope she finds a a way to escape him, with dog!
ReplyDeleteGotta feeling she'll go "John Wick" (Keanu Reeves Move) on him if he even touches her dog!
ReplyDeleteYeah, he's going down. Or I certainly hope so. Awesome tension and creepiness.
ReplyDeleteTruly nasty!
ReplyDeleteNo, don't hurt the doggy! I really don't like this creepy deathlike alien. Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteUh oh, everyone is in trouble, even the dog! I like her spirit though. Can't wait for more - terrific excerpt. Very intense.
ReplyDeleteHe's really crossed the line now. Kill him off before he kills the dog, or I fear you will have many distressed readers. Great writing.
ReplyDeleteNO!!! NOT THE DOG. She better do something! I hope he gets what's coming to him. Great snippet.
ReplyDeletePoor dog! Oh no.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOO! YOU're going to kill the dog, Teresa? DOn't do it! KIll him! Or argh! I hope she can manage to escape him with the dog... Right? Right? Great snippet! He's awful!
ReplyDeleteNice sparring dialogue. Ooooh, what a villain!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! These aliens are awful!
ReplyDeleteYeah, she has no power here. And he doesn't seem at all like the kind to care about consent. She needs a rescue!
ReplyDeleteShe has major worries now but so do I and we'll work them out together!
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me either she's going to get loose and wreak havoc with this alien, or the cavalry is coming over the hill. Can't wait to find out which!
ReplyDeleteNo! Not the dog! :S Great snippet, as usual, and let's be honest– things always get worse for the heroes! I'm interested to see who her real romantic interest is, and hope he/she comes to help her soon... Not that she always needs it. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's it, this dog killer must die! Now!
ReplyDelete"Only dead things were such a lifeless shade of gray." Awesome line!
ReplyDeleteBut really, this alien needs to go. No one threatens the dog and gets away with it.
He is terrible and at the same time, I have a feeling that she might still escape with the dog or being freed or rescued or something.
ReplyDeleteTotally made me shudder. Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I figured out a way for her to get out of this with her dog. YOU'RE THE AUTHOR SO DON'T DO IT! Seriously, I'm really upset by this. I hope he dies a painful death.
ReplyDelete~Joyce Scarbrough
I was just about to type a response when I glanced up at The Belle in Blue's response - I vote with he - he dies a very very very very painful death - twice!
