Hello
all my fellow Warriors (and Snippeteers)! :-) I've been gone for a few weeks--and I missed you all. :-) I have no excuse other than, life got busy.
Weekend Writing
Warriors is a weekly bloghop. Each week, participants sign up HERE at wewriwa.com, then post 8 to 10 sentences of
their work, published or unpublished, on their own blog to go live before 9:00 AM Sunday EST. (We check signups and remove links when we don't find a wewriwa post-- to save our participants from clicking on empty links--so please have it live by 9:00 Sunday morning--eastern USA) Then we visit each other and read, comment,
critique, encourage--all those things that do a solitary writer's heart
good.

Looking through a small window, Lily saw
stars, a glimpse of the moon, and then… nothing had ever felt worse; a
knife to her heart would have been kinder. The shuttle seemed to slow and turn,
bringing Earth into view--with all of its sweet, beautiful, blue and white swirls. She wept big noisy, sobs.
Dev Areen looked over his shoulder at
her and said, “Your mate and children are gone from your life.” His voice was
impassive when he added, “If you weep like a coward, you will lose my
favor."
As if she gave a rat’s ass about keeping
or losing his favor. He had no idea who he was talking to. She was the reigning
queen of 'never give up." Somehow, some way, she would see her husband and
children again.
Ooh, not the children. I wouldn't be able to contain myself. She is obviously one strong and determined individual. Great scene!
ReplyDeleteHe had no idea who he was talking to.
ReplyDeleteI suspect he is going to find out the really hard way. I love how spunky Lily is. Excellent snippet, as always, Teresa!
How I love a tough spunky woman and Lily is tops with me. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteShe was the reigning queen of 'never give up." Love this line! Great snippet
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back, Teresa! I missed your excerpts from this story. It has to be hard to see Earth slipping away, but I look forward to reading how she fights back. Great snippet! :)
ReplyDeleteAt least she has her dog for companionship. I love her determination. I hope she gets back to her husband and children. Good snippet.
ReplyDeleteA very touching moment, though the last line gives me hope!
ReplyDeleteDev Areen needs to get over himself! Enjoying the story and I have confidence in your heroine- she'll get home. I hope (gulp).
ReplyDeleteYes, ma'am. If you think she's giving up, think again. Love her attitude.
ReplyDeleteSeeing Earth in the rearview mirror- that would be a helpless feeling! How do you escape in space? Great snippet, Teresa.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful sight and a gritty woman.
ReplyDeleteGlad she hasn't lost her fighting spirit, and his "favor" doesn't seem worth keeping anyway!
ReplyDeleteOh damn, the feeling of helplessness is big in this snippet. I really hope that she doesn't give up... Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteGADS I hate that Dev guy LOL. I hope he's not right about her losing her family! And glad you're back!!
ReplyDeleteOh I think her promise to herself is going to be tested. Hard for her, but great for the story!
ReplyDeleteWhile I approve her attitude, it resembles whistling in the graveyard -- at this point, at least.
ReplyDeleteI love her feisty spirit and hope she can escape and find a way home. However, it's pretty hard to get back from outer space. Can't wait to see what happens next.
ReplyDeleteHe's very self-centered, isn't he? Hope she makes him eat those words!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like her spunk. I bet she's going to show him a thing or two.
ReplyDeleteDev is a jerk. I like her attitude. Giving up is for losers. Good snippets.
ReplyDeleteGreat snippet. She has to be one strong lady to know she may never see her family again. The alien had better watch his back. :)
ReplyDeleteI certainly would not care about being in his favor, he sounds like a pompous, conceited... ugh. I like her spitfire and hope she will succeed.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, we missed you.
Oh no! Though I get the feeling that's going to come back and bite him in the ass hard. Welcome back! :D
