Welcome to my world and beyond...

NaNoWriMo Day 1

It is coming close to the witching hour and I have not yet written my opening sentence.

NaNoWriMo, for those who don't know, is this: NationalNovelWritingMonth .  And if you read about it, you will learn that the focus is output...on just getting it written. I will eschew the edit, have no rewrites this month, just 50,000 words separating me from this moment--and finishing the novel.  <Hangs head> except for the 22 pages left of the novel I am almost ready to submit... this week :-)

Forgive me for what appears to be procrastination, lol  it is not! Life is just...really busy.  Hectic 40+ outside of the home, compounded by being summoned to report for jury duty at week's end. Oh, if I am chosen my work schedule will be a pickle... <sigh>

And I have been busy here: The Gingerbread House another blog I have that celebrates the joy of gingerbread and people getting together at Christmastime. If you check out the blog, you will get tips on planning and hosting your own gingerbread house party.

Okay, I am ready to go write now. :-)  Such is the life of people driven to write.  Sleep deprivation is just part of the territory.

<she mumbles as she switches gears> "Wonder what my novel will be about..." ;-)

New post tomorrow :-)

Or...I can just add to it tonight.

The novel is called, "Whistlepig Hill" General Fiction,

  1. Wow Teresa!

Congrats on taking part in the much talked about contest! I have been reading a lot about it and here is wishing you all the very best with it- am sure you would come out with flying colors! And even if not, the mere participation would be great as we would get to see your awesome works.

Take care as I know you would be busy for a month now!

  2. Hi Harleena. Thanks for reading this post. I can hardly hold open my eyes (it is nearly 2 A.M.here). But I am nearly on track for the 6th day of writing. I did a stutter step starting out, choosing one idea out of my "idea" folder, and just not being able to get inside the heads of my characters. So on day 3, started back at square one by choosing another idea. This evening has been about 5000 words so far. But, it is rolling. And the learning process when writing is just so amazing! Always a lot of self-discovery going on while writing. Thank you for your encouragement. I want to finish. I think that NaNoWriMo is a pretty cool concept that is every bit as neat put into practice. Much thanks and big hug to you :-)

  4. Tanya, just found this comment...Yes, it was a fun experience. Not sure I will do it again but that is only because November is sooo busy for me. I stopped at 51,000 words--to allow for any discrepancy in their word-count programs and the one on Word--which I use. Also, Scrivenor is one of the sponsors and they offer a 50% discount on their novel-writing program to all who completed the challenge. Will get around to that eventually, but want to hear what others have to say about it first.

I know the ending of the story, "Whistle Pig Hill", but will have to wait until after Christmas to finish it. I do recommend it. Create Space is one of the sponsors, and one of the prizes handed out to those who finish is five print copies of their novels written during Nanowrimo. I think that is pretty cool, but have not explored what all is involved. The code for that expires in June. Maybe will post more as I discover more :-)
