Weekend Writing Warriors June 3, 2018

Happy June! It's time for snips and bits of amazing tales by talented writers! Weekend Writing Warriors is a weekly bloghop. Each week, participants sign up HERE at wewriwa.com, then post 8 to 10 sentences of their work, published or unpublished, on their own blog to go live by before 9:00 AM Sunday, EST. Then we visit each other and read, comment, critique, encourage--all those things that do a solitary writer's heart good.
Snippet Sunday group from facebook--not us, but many of our participants do both, can be found HERE
This week's snippet is from "The Sands of Dhor".  Lily, abducted from Earth by alien slavers, is with Theusand. He's not a slaver-- he saved Lily, sort of.  He's Dhor'en; they communicate mind to mind.
The slaver, Dev Areen is demanding that Lily (he claims as his property) be returned to him. Theusand just proved that Lily can communicate via mind to mind, therefore cannot be enslaved.

Last week's snippet ended with (speaking about Dev Areen):
His evil grin returned, but this time it looked forced. He spun on his heel and then strutted away.
Please forgive creative punctuation used to stay within wewriwa guidelines. We continue from there:

Theusand's inner voice told her it was time to go. Thank God it was over.
When she tried to move, her trembling legs failed her. He reached out and grasped her as she headed toward the floor then lifted her up to standing.  Leaning against him for support, she closed her eyes when his hands came up to the sides of her face.
“Calm, Lily, he can't get through me to harm you.”  His words were infused with such... such tenderness.
Warmth spread through her body and her shaking stopped. Gratitude suffused her, gratitude and something else. She had to admit it; it was affection.

It's the first time she's felt that for him. Here, it starts. That's it. All opinions greatly appreciated. :-) Thank you so much for visiting and
for commenting!

  1. Maybe he can't get through, but I bet there are ways around. Somehow I don't think he'll have given up.

  3. After going through that situation, I can understand why she would feel affection toward him. Though, I hope it is not misplaced. Great snippet!

  5. He does seem to care about her welfare an awful lot. Interesting she's starting to have feelings for him. Fascinating snippet! But someone better keep an eye on that sneaky Dev Areen LOL.

  6. I understand how she is drawn to him, and grateful for his protection, but I still don't trust him. He is, after all, an overbearing, bossy, mind-reading alien.

  7. I wonder how many people have real affection for him?

  8. Dev Areen seems like the type to carry a grudge. Beware!

  14. What a lovely, touching moment, I can see how her feelings have turned to affection - and might become more? Like others I'm concerned Dev Avreen might try to get back at them though.
