Weekend Writing Warriors: Across the Night Sky 31

Welcome to a weekly post of Weekend Writing Warriors. If you'd like to check it out or give it a try, click here to go to wewriwa.blogspot.com

I'm working on edits for Emmily, Unbound--the book I've been sharing excerpts from for a long time. While I'm doing that, I'm going to share snippets from a WIP entitled Across the Night Sky.

This is an Alien Abduction Romance.

Marissa, abducted human, 20-something, is with an injured 'alien' man, Kuylerh. I'm in a new chapter. Kuylerh's rescue has arrived and once again, she's being abducted, but this time it's by his group. The man ordered to carry her is not happy about it.She's just had something used on her to subdue her.

Last week's snippet ended with:  Only one thing seemed sure in her befuddled brain: There was no way she should get in that thing. No way.

The snippet:

But into the plane she went. As they strapped her into a reclined seat, her head lolled just right so she could watch the older man helping Kylerh into the seat next to her.

He touched her hand and spoke. The quiet calm of his voice and the way his head dipped added up to some sort of apology. She couldn’t respond. She couldn’t even blink. Oh no…  Droll ran from her mouth.

What shame was next? What bodily functions did she still control? And worse, which didn’t she?

While the old guard took a seat at what had to be the controls, her thoughts became a silent prayer. Please, wake me from this nightmare.

That's the snippet. Thank you so much for visiting. This is a WIP so comments are especially appreciated. :-)

Veronica left a comment last week about what was used on her (spray mist). Good catch.  I will be rewriting that paragraph after giving it some thought. I wrote this story 16 years ago. The very first story I wrote. Just sat down and started typing (for four months) and finished with a 177K word tome full of writing that shows I had ZERO idea what I was doing. lol. I was so passionate about this world, I wrote not just one, but FOUR books in this universe. Oh my God, the editing ahead. (I have to do it. It was a deathbed promise to my mom--my biggest fan--who adored these books.)

Last week's snippet ended with:  The room started spinning and her knees buckled. She was heading for the floor when he lifted her again, this time carrying her in front of him. The three remaining guards escorted them, re-forming a perimeter.

The snippet:

Whatever he sprayed on her had done a number on her muscles. She could see and process her surroundings just fine, but her limbs refused to obey.

Try as she might, there wasn't a thing she could do when they moved into a more open area where a goofy-looking plane sat. It reminded her of the space shuttles that NASA used to fly, but it was small. Relatively small. Relatively? Was she hallucinating? She had no idea what she was looking at, or even what she was thinking.

Only one thing seemed sure in her befuddled brain: There was no way she should get in that thing. No way.

That's the snippet. And my guess is, she's getting in that thing. :-) Thank you so much for visiting. This is a WIP so comments are especially appreciated. :-)

Weekend Writing Warriors: Across the Night Sky 29

Welcome to a weekly post of Weekend Writing Warriors. If you'd like to check it out or give it a try, click here to go to wewriwa.blogspot.com

I'm working on edits for Emmily, Unbound--the book I've been sharing excerpts from for a long time. While I'm doing that, I'm going to share snippets from a WIP entitled Across the Night Sky.

This is an Alien Abduction Romance.

Marissa, abducted human, 20-something, woke with no idea where she was. After running from the metal box she woke up inside, she finds an open doorway. She stepped through and discovered she wasn't alone. She's with an injured 'alien' man, Kuylerh. I'm in a new chapter. Kuylerh's rescue has arrived an once again, she's being abducted, but this time it's by his group. The man ordered to carry her is not happy about it. She tried stopping him and he's set her down.

Last week's snippet ended with:

“I don’t want to be here either. I just want to go home. Please. Help me get home.” Then tears poured down her cheeks.

 ~*~

We pick up there:

She looked back the way they’d just come, longing for the familiarity of the semi-darkness and the attacking beasts.

Man-eaters over being rescued? That settled it; she was losing her mind.

Just that split second of looking away and it was too late. She didn’t see the next trick coming.

The guard’s hand flew up, lifting a small bottle toward her. There was no time to react before he sprayed it right into her face.

It didn’t burn. At least it wasn’t pepper spray.

Awe shit; things could get worse.

The room started spinning and her knees buckled. She was heading for the floor when he lifted her again, this time carrying her in front of him. The three remaining guards escorted them, re-forming a perimeter.

Alrighty...she's going whether or not she wants to. That's it for this week. Thanks for visiting. Comments are deeply appreciated.
