Weekend Writing Warriors July 15, 2018

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors!
It's time for snips and bits of amazing tales by talented writers! Weekend Writing Warriors is a weekly bloghop. Each week, participants sign up HERE at wewriwa.com, then post 8 to 10 sentences of their work, published or unpublished, on their own blog to go live by 9:00 AM Sunday, EST. Then we visit each other and read, comment, critique, encourage--all those things that do a solitary writer's heart good.
Snippet Sunday group from facebook--not us, but many of our participants do both, can be found HERE
This week's snippet is from "The Sands of Dhor".  Lily, abducted from Earth by alien slavers, is with Theusand (not a slaver--an apparent rescuer) has just told her that Earth was destroyed and her husband and children are dead.
This week's snippet picks up directly from last week's--which ended with Theusand offering a kindness...sort of:  “I can take away this pain, this… what your people call heartache.” Her reaction continues this week:

“My people? My people don’t call anything…anything anymore! Your people killed them. Killed them all!” Her hands flew up to his chest and she started pounding on him. He made no attempt to stop her. When she finished pommeling him, she crumbled into more sobs.
Once again, time lost all relevance. Where she was going no longer mattered. Her goal to get back home was all she'd been clinging to since the filthy slavers grabbed her and dragged her off into space.

That's it for this week.  All opinions greatly appreciated. :-) Thank you so much for visiting and for commenting!

  1. It'll be interesting to see how she reacts to this news after she's had time to digest it. BTW, whatever happened to her dog?

  2. He didn't try to deny it, so it was a deliberate act, then, and not some cosmic catastrophe that they just managed to escape.

  4. I suspect her energies will now turn to thoughts of revenge, on Theusand or all of his people. And I too wonder what happened to her dog.

  7. Thanks for adding my link.
Poor Lily. I'd certainly feel terrible about losing everybody and everything. (Shades of Arthur Dent)

  8. Her emotions are certainly clear, and her despair. I'm wondering what Theusand will say next...quite the snippet!

  11. From the beginning, your heroine lives; more than brave, her spirit has no end. Thanks, Teresa.

  13. But she won't let him take away the heartache, will she? It's all she's got left. That and thoughts of revenge. And her dog (had to get my vote in). Great snippet.

I wonder if there are enough enslaved humans to keep the species going...
