I'm working on edits for Emmily, Unbound--the book I've been sharing excerpts from for a long time. While I'm doing that, I'm going to share snippets from a WIP entitled Across the Night Sky.
This is an Alien Abduction Romance.
Marissa,
abducted human, 20-something, woke with no idea where she was. After
running from the
metal box she woke up inside, she
finds an open doorway. She stepped through and discovered she wasn't
alone. She's with an injured man, Kuylerh. I'm in a new chapter, a
couple pages in. *note Marissa had been injured by one of the predators. A rescue has come for her companion. And now, the second abduction in only several days time has begun.
Last week's snippet ended with:
With a fluid movement, he bent down, wrapped his arm around the back of her thighs, and threw her up over his shoulder—following the rest of them with her flung like a rag doll.~*~
We pick up there:
Her ribs screamed from the pain of being draped across him. She kicked her feet and pounded her good arm on his back. The other men chipped back and forth in low voices. Their comments seemed teasing.
Great. Like that’d make this guy a lot friendlier.
Their small group faded in the dim light behind them. When the man carrying her spoke, he hissed. Rissa was sure he was calling her everything but a woman. He finally stopped, put her back on her feet, and looked at her through eyes that were little more than narrowed slits. His next words, probably more cussing, came through gritted teeth.
A bit more if you're interested:
The others stopped and turned to look their way. Quiet snickers, and words spoken in a taunting voice came from the group. Clearly, they were enjoying the entertainment. But not this one; if he wasn’t pissed off, then she’d never seen anyone angry before.
The older man, the one Kylerh leaned heavily against, spoke one clipped word, and the show was over.
Uh oh. Sounds
like he's taking her with him whether she wants to go or not... That's

Interesting when not understanding words, interpretation can be spot on or completely off. I assume the older man is some kind of elder. Nice snippet.
ReplyDeleteThe reactions of the guy carrying her along with the others don't seem promising. I'm curious as to where they're taking her.
ReplyDeleteShe's basing her opinion on their body language as well as their type of laughter. I think she's on track about the teasing. So what happened to the original guy? Is he the one carrying her? I'm just a little confused.

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking (and hoping) she'll be better off with them than without them since at least one of them acts as if he wants to save her.
