Weekend Writing Warriors: Across the Night Sky 25

Welcome to a weekly post of Weekend Writing Warriors. If you'd like to check it out or give it a try, click here to go to wewriwa.blogspot.com

I'm working on edits for Emmily, Unbound--the book I've been sharing excerpts from for a long time. While I'm doing that, I'm going to share snippets from a WIP entitled Across the Night Sky.

This is an Alien Abduction Romance.

Marissa, abducted human, 20-something, woke with no idea where she was. After running from the metal box she woke up inside, she finds an open doorway. She stepped through and discovered she wasn't alone. She's with an injured man, Kuylerh. I'm in a new chapter, a couple pages in. *note Marissa had been injured by one of the predators. A rescue has come for her companion.

Last week's snippet ended with:

Kylerh spoke sharply to his rescuers, wincing as he gestured  back at the group of refugees. Then, with the same, stern tone, he said, ”Rissa!” Again, he motioned for her to follow.

 ~*~

We pick up there:

Torn between the two groups, she hesitated. Even if she didn’t know exactly where she was, it still seemed better than not knowing at all where he was going to take her. Then again, the predators…

Another glance at him showed a mixture of pain and impatience. Should she go?

Sure, she’d spent some time with him, and he seemed safe enough. But what about the other men with him?

None of them were smiling at her. Well, one was. The one who looked like he was barely old enough to drive. She doubted he had much influence on how things went. Maybe staying with the larger group—even if they were genetically odd—was a better idea.

A bit more if you're interested:

What if there were no other rescues coming, though? And… there was that guy with the sharp teeth.

An angry growl coming from Kylerh stopped her thought train. His patience must have been done. As soon as he spoke to one of his guards, the man hurried back toward her, his eyes narrowed, his steps angry-sounding thuds. With a fluid movement, he bent down, wrapped his arm around the back of her thighs, and threw her up over his shoulder—following the rest of them with her flung like a rag doll.

Uh oh. Sounds like he's taking her with him whether she wants to go or not... That's it for this week. Thanks for visiting. Comments are deeply appreciated.

  1. So much for her opinion on the matter. Even though in her best interests, our poor hero is going to hear about this later!

    1. Haha! Yea. He will hear about a lot, later. All rough and tough doesn't always rule the roost. ;-) Thanks, Nancy!

  2. Seems she has no choice here. Curious how that will play out later when they are alone.

  3. Decision is made - she is going. Flung over like a rag doll is not always the best best way. Tweeted.

  8. I guess that settles that, for now, at least. I don't know how easy she'll be to get along with after being forced!
