Ha, excellent question, Deborah. My guess is that it is actually the symmetry itself that makes the eye seek out the one that doesn't match angles with the rest. :-)
lol, Dana, I had a comment beneath it that I removed--and it asked if it would change the thoughts and mood of the viewer if the flag wasn't in it. This picture would seem almost eerie if it weren't for the American flag. It's funny how the fact that it's there changes the whole mood.
